EVENTS THIS OCTOBER AT LUCAN LIBRARY

Lucan Library is hosting a variety of fun & engaging events this Autumn for library-goers of all ages. Check out some of the highlights below and stay tuned to Lucan Library Facebook page for more information and all the latest event updates.

The Red Line Book Festival returns with lots of great events for booklovers of all ages and interests. Lucan Library will host three events as part of this year’s festivities.

Monday 14th October, 7pm Join Colm Keegan for Spit it Out! a fun and creative poetry workshop. Bookings available via Eventbrite.

Thursday 17th October, 7pm Catch Martina Devlin in conversation with Dr Jarlath Killeen and Sinead Cuddihy as they delve into the world of one of the worlds most beloved authors Charlotte Bronte. Get tickets for this not to be missed event via Eventbrite.

Saturday 19th October, 1pm Join Ellen Brickley as she shares her tips & tricks for Personal Essay Writing. Sign up now via Eventbrite.

Join the team from Lucan Library as they blast off for Space Week on Thursday 10th October, 7pm. Martin McCormack of the Astrophotography Club of Ireland will present photos of objects captured in space and take viewers through the details so they can start to decipher what the different colours indicate and deepen their knowledge of our galaxy through the lens of Astrophotography. All ages are welcome and bookings can be made via Eventbrite.

The Children’s Book Festival 2024 will take place in libraries across the country this month and presents a great opportunity for young people, parents, teachers and libraries to celebrate books & the joy of reading. Join the team from Lucan Library on Wednesday 23rd October at 3:30pm, alongside award-winning author and illustrator Thomas Docherty as he brings his stories alive with live drawing and invites to join in to learn how to draw some of Thomas’ favourite characters for themselves. This interactive workshop is ideal for children aged 8-12 years.

As part of this years Children’s Book Festival Lucan Library are inviting children to enter their Design a Book Cover Competition. Young borrowers can create a cover for their own book entitled The Worm Who Loved Books! By Luca N. Library. There are two age categories available, under 6’s and 7-10 year old’s. Participants can collect their entry page at the library desk and winners will be announced at the end of October with a Mystery Prize for the top 3 winners.
